I guess we have survived the proliferation of Christmas treats. Whether it was cookies, candy, pies, or whatever goodies are big in your family, now it is time for…a RESOLUTION!
Each year we all make new years’ resolutions of one kind or another. We present them to family, social media or just keep them to ourselves. How we choose to share our resolutions can show how confident we are in actually sticking to them. There is not as much pressure if we keep the resolution to ourselves, rather than making the resolution public knowledge.
If you are short on an idea for a New Year’s Resolution, below are a few ideas:
To lose the weight I put on in 2024. But in my defense, I had a lot on my plate last year.
To get my body to the point where it makes less noise when I stand up.
To order a chicken and an egg online to see which comes first.
To read more…I turned on the closed captioning for my TV.
To accomplish the resolutions of 2024 which I should have done in 2023 because I promised to do them in 2022 and planned them in 2021.
To give up blaming the family dog for every strange smell in the house (especially when you know it came from you).
To learn when the final reductions go on items in the reduced aisle and build your shopping schedule around it. (Notice, for this one I said your)
To use the phrase “It’s a no-brainer” more often.
To stop daring people to lick frozen flagpoles.
To take less selfies.
To take more selfies.
To stop buttering my doughnuts.
You know whether you have made too many resolutions if it takes you more than a day to break them all.
New Year’s Day Morning Prayer - Dear Lord, So far this year I’ve done well. I haven’t gossiped, I haven’t lost my temper, I haven’t been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or overindulgent. I’m very thankful for that. But in a few minutes, Lord, I’m going to get out of bed, and from then on, I'm probably going to need a lot more help. Amen
As the New Year approaches, many of us find ourselves reflecting on our past experiences and looking ahead with a sense of hope and determination. Setting goals for the New Year, as Christians, means setting them WITH God, not just for His name sake. These resolutions set in the light of God’s word can serve as a guiding light, offering us a chance to set intentions for personal spiritual growth and improvement. It’s important to prayerfully seek God’s direction, but in doing so we must give Him a chance to respond.
For 2025, set some Godly goals and make this the year where those resolutions are transformed into reality. Ask God to help your eyes, ears and heart to be open this New Year in order to hear His word and feel Him moving you in a certain direction.
2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
Philippians 3:13-14 ESV Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Let’s be that new creation and press on for the prize in 2025!
Please feel free to contact me through my “Contact Me” page and let me know your thoughts, as well as what your resolution(s) is for 2025!
Take care,
Mark
